Coronavirus toll in the country has reached 863 as more people tested positive in Kerala, Maharashtra, and Jammu & Kashmir regions. India has also recorded 20 deaths from Coronavirus infection. However, only 17 of them have been confirmed COVID-19 deaths by the government. India has postponed its prestigious JEE and NEET exams due to nationwide Coronavirus lockdown.
Coronavirus death toll surpasses 25,000 globally
Global death toll from Coronavirus crossed 25,000 deaths on 27 March 2020. Coronavirus has spread to over 176 countries and regions. More than 550,000 people have been infected by the virus with US confirming the most number of infections followed by Italy and China. With 8,215 deaths, Italy has recorded most fatalities, and nearly 81,000 cases while Spain has 4,858 deaths and over 64,000 cases.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for Coronavirus. After experiencing mild symptoms, he was tested for COVID-19 on the advice of England’s Chief Medical Officer. Johnson is now self-isolating and continuing to lead the country’s response to COVID-19. In earlier news, Britain’s Prince Charles also tested positive for the virus that has claimed over 25,000 lives worldwide.
Pakistan opened its borders with ally China for a day to accept Chinese medical supplies to fight the Coronavirus outbreak. Over 1,200 people are infected and nine deaths have been reported from the country. China had asked Pakistan to open borders so that medical supplies could be transported into the country while it is on lockdown.
US President Donald Trump and China’s Xi Jinping discussed Coronavirus issues on a phone call, pledging cooperation to fight against the pandemic. Trump announced that he had a good conversation with Jinping, adding that China has developed strong understanding of the virus. He stated that they are working closely together. He showed respect for China, after days of critical tension between both countries over the virus.
