Many events occurred in the entertainment news that helped us express through ourselves in COVID-19 lockdown and kept us sane. Some news made us laugh, some made us cry and some even shook us.

1. Parasite movie wins Oscar

This year’s Academy Awards was certainly one for the books. South-Korean easy to love film Parasite became World Entertainment News and the first-ever foreign-language film in Oscar history to wins four Oscars – Best original screenplay. Best international film, best director and best picture.

Treating of the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy and the destitute family was masterfully crafted by Bong Joon-ho. The movie has made USD35 million in the US and USD165 million worldwide off of a small budget.

2. Harvey Weinstein was sentenced for harassment crimes

American former film producer Harvey Weinstein convicted for a sex offender. In May 2008, he was arrested in New York and charged with sexual harassment and other offences. In February 2020, he was found guilty of rape in the third degree and a criminal sexual act. In March 2020, he was sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment.

It seems ironic now, “Some people handle sweets better” – as he quotes.

3. J-Lo and Shakira in a concert together

Back when concert performances were still a thing, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez delivered a memorable performance at the super Bowl LIV Halftime Show and it became the Top Hit Entertainment News. The powerhouse vocalists performed some of their most iconic hits — including Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie” and J. Lo’s “Jenny from the Block” — in a spectacular show that had viewers and critics raving.

4. Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death stunned the country

YouTube was a biggest savior in pandemic times. Not only it was a source of entertainment but it also raised awareness.
