Samsung boosts its A-series lineup with 3 new smartphones

Samsung has launched 3 new mid-range smartphones with many chart-topping specs: Samsung A52, Samsung A52 5G, and Samsung A72. The Samsung A52 succeeds the Samsung Galaxy A51, which was ranked the world’s most ‘popular’ Android phone in 2020 after emerging as the most-shipped Android phone of the year. With the Samsung A52 5G, the Korean tech giant is aiming to make 5G technology more affordable for the masses.

Samsung brought out 3 new phones under its A-series (Read-A for Affordable), at its Galaxy Unpacked special launch event, including A52, A52 5G, and A72. From the looks of it, all three devices share similar specs, but there are many key differences.

Let’s have a look at what’s on offer from Samsung A52, A52 5G, and A72:-

Samsung Galaxy A52 LTE version and 5G version

Samsung A52 LTE may be the cheapest of the lot and has many similarities with A52 5G. Both A52 and A52 5G feature the same 6.5-inch display with 407 PPI, but the LTE version sports a 90Hz refresh rate. The display is a Super AMOLED panel with 1080p+ resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Galaxy A52 features a 4,500mAh battery, with a 15W charger in the box. It also gets a Snapdragon 720G chipset. LTE model gets 4GB RAM as standard, going up to 6GB and 8GB with 128GB and 256GB storage options available for both phones.

A52 5G on the other hand, gets a more powerful Snapdragon 750G chipset, with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with One UI 3.1 based on Android 11, and both these models get a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. This one obviously gets the 5G capabilities.

The phone’s powers lie in its camera setup, which is improved from past generations. The front camera is a 32MP sensor, with a quad-camera setup in the rear. The main module features a 64MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, which gets Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Tetra-binning tech. It is accompanied by a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera with a 123-degree field of view, 5MP Macro camera, and a 5MP depth camera along with a single flash to complete the setup.
