How UAE celebrates Mothers Day 2021 amid Covid-19 pandemic

Can you imagine a day without thinking about your mother? From a street urchin to a business magnate, she would be the most important person in the life of any individual. Without ‘She’ who are we! We would be non-existent in this world. Though Mother’s Day is celebrated across the world, each country has specific days to mark the occasion. In UAE, the day falls on March 21 every year.

In the United Kingdom, Mother’s Day is held exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday. It is held on the second Sunday of May in many countries, such as India, Australia, Canada, and the United States.

Why is Mother’s Day unique in the UAE?

“A mother is a role model and a cornerstone of the community,” according to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. The Emiratis take the occasion to honour the services mothers have contributed within the families and in the nation-building exercises.
