India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 pm IST on 12 May 2020. This will be PM Modi’s third address to the nation in 50 days. He is expected to shine a light on India’s progress in containing COVID-19. A decision could also be expected on possible lockdown extension.
Lockdown 4.0 started to trend on social media as the news came out. The country has already imposed zone wise lockdown restrictions to help poor population amid Coronavirus crisis.
Coronavirus count in India stood at more than 70,500 as Prime Minister Modi’s speech announcement was made. The country is also conducting massive rescue operation to bring back stranded Indians from across the world.
Under the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’, thousands of Indian nationals will be brought back from 7 May to 13 May 2020. The Prime Minister could also speak to returnees and share their experiences in the speech.
He had also chaired a meeting with Chief Ministers from all Indian states to get their inputs on further lockdown strategies and measure to control Coronavirus in India. A decision from the meeting with chief ministers could also be announced by the prime minister who is known to speak strongly at 8 pm.
