BOOK FOR A CAUSE: Come Together for India

The second wave of COVID-19 in India triggered a tremor among the Indian expatriates in Dubai, and it was then that author Flavel Monteiro decided to help the community. Since penning about food is what Monteiro does the best, he indulged with all his talent to raise and donate money to help the COVID-19 relief efforts in India. Monteiro launched an e-book, Come Together for India, on India’s Independence Day, 15 August, that comprises several recipes by popular Indian chefs living and cooking everywhere from North America to New Zealand. The e-book costs just $5, and each penny earned through the sales will be donated towards Dubai Cares and Vibah.org to help Indians amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“After losing friends to Covid-19 this April and May in India, this COVID Catastrophe worsened in India, major cities and villages were at a near standstill, the mortality rate was high due to the health care system crashing, the end of this second wave has had severe consequences and is still far from coming to an end even though we see a drop in cases. Since food brings people together, it took me back to April 2020 when I did an eBook Come Together with 84 of the world’s finest chefs for the same purpose to put a smile on people’s faces and support chefs around the world. Today, I do it for India with Come Together For India along with my co-author Naim Maadad, India’s finest chefs, Dubai Cares – IACAD

Permit No. 4074 and Vibha.org.,” says Flavel Monteiro.
