1983 World Cup winner Yashpal Sharma dies of cardiac arrest

Yashpal Sharma, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, died on Tuesday of a cardiac arrest. Sharma, 66, was born in Ludhiana and went on to play 37 Test matches for India. He scored 1606 and 883 runs in Tests and ODIs, respectively. The middle-order batsman took the field 160 times for Punjab, Haryana, and Railways, scoring 8,933 runs and smashing 21 centuries.
