GM India lays off all workforce at Maharashtra plant
General Motors India has laid off all 1,419 workers at its plant in Maharashtra’s Talegaon. The company has laid off all workers by invoking Section 25 of the Industrial Dispute Act. The workers’ union is reportedly set to challenge the move in court. The company has stated that workers will receive compensation, which is 50% of basic wages and dearness allowance of the previous salaries.
