Woman gets world's 1st live-donor lung transplant after COVID-19 damage

Doctors in Japan performed the world’s first successful transplant of lung tissue from living donors to a patient with severe lung damage from COVID-19. The operation lasted around 11 hours and the woman received lung tissue from her husband and son. Her lungs were severely damaged even after recovery, leaving her unable to breathe.
