Alexander Zverev beats Matteo Berrettini for second Madrid Open title

Alexander Zverev defeated Matteo Berrettini 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-3 to clinch his second Madrid Open title and his fourth Masters 1000 title overall. Zverev stormed into the finals after pinning down top-seeded Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals and fourth-ranked Dominic Thiem in the semifinals of the tournament. Earlier, the sixth-ranked German tennis star also won the Mexican Open in Acapulco in March.
