India javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra threw 87.58 metres to give India a historic gold medal, the first-ever Gold in athletics at the Olympics. Chopra's win brought India their seventh medal at the mega event in Tokyo. It has become India's best-ever Olympics medal tally yet, surpassing a six-medal haul at the Summer Olympics 2012 in London.
