Former European champion hurdler handed 9-month doping ban

Kariem Hussein, the former Former European 400 metres hurdles champion, was handed a 9-month doping ban on Friday. The ban ruled the Swiss athlete out of the Tokyo Olympics. "The presence of the prohibited substances nikethamide and the metabolite N-ethylnicotinamide had been demonstrated to the athlete in the doping test", the Swiss Olympic Committee said. The 32-year-old claimed the European title on home soil in 2014.
