India to launch digital Rupee using blockchain

India would launch digital rupee using blockchain and other technologies. The digital version of the currency would be introduced by the Reserve Bank of India in 2022-23, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Union Budget speech on Tuesday. In an attempt to go green, the Union Budget for 2022-2023 was presented in a paperless format. Sitharaman read out the Budget at the Parliament through a tablet device.
