Sensex rises 222 points to settle at fresh high

Indian equity indices, Sensex and Nifty ended Thursday's volatile session on a higher note led by gains in metals, FMCG, and IT stocks. The 30-share BSE index settled 222.13 points higher at 51,531.52 while the broader NSE Nifty advanced 66.80 points to its all-time high of 15,173.30. Reliance Industries was top Nifty gainer, the stock rose over 4 percent.
